  • The problem

Communal cohesion in Britain is at a low. Civil discourse is aggressive and misinformed. The respect for truth and the common good has lost its way. We see the results in our classrooms, lecture theatres, town halls and museums.

Whilst far from being the only cause of this unrest, there is one driver of it that we, the National Holocaust Museum, feel we can and must address. We don’t call it ‘antisemitism’. We name it for what it is – anti-Jewish racism. And it affects all of us.

The central characteristic of anti-Jewish racism, unlike other racisms, is Conspiracy Theory - myths about Jewish power and control. They are precisely the myths peddled by the Nazis and they are peddled again today.

Conspiracy Theories weaken the very concepts of truth, democracy and togetherness. And to return to perhaps the widest threat of all, what starts with anti-Jewish racism does not end with anti-Jewish racism.

We can stop this. Our training programme helps civic institutions detect and act on anti-Jewish racism. We decode racist images and social media memes, we bust myths, and we link the past to the present.

Our training is proven to increase understanding and change minds. We don’t wag fingers – we encourage discussion and critical thinking. And we embody allyship – we are the only Holocaust museum in the world founded by Christians.
